Done

So a lot has happened since I last posted. I had my senior thesis show and I graduated, finally. It is a wonder how I am still alive or sane. I had a LOT of help from my friends and family. It was a group effort to say the least. It was a beautiful day both days and there was a really great turnout to the show. All's well that ends well... I hope.

Here are some photos from the show...

and I was in the Carolina Arts News blog... here! wohoo

WINDGATE!!!

I got the Windgate Fellowship that I applied for which was mentioned in a post earlier last December!!! I was officially notified at the end of March, but I decided I should wait till the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design updated their website so I had proof that this actually happened. :-D

This is a little tid-bit that was in our school's artnotes/newsletter to explain what it is.

And here is the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design's website to see other winners and their work: Windgate

I am very excited to say the least

what's up

I've been so busy! I feel like after I graduate I need to be put in a coffin for a 7 year nap. zzzz

My internship at Anthropologie is coming along very nicely. I love everyone there and I am finally getting the hang of things as I am about to graduate, of course. We just finished our earth day window display with painted on green/white circles and reused corks. and I am back to macrame-ing, which I might change into knitting if I can finagle that... I will try to get photos put up tomorrow.

I decided I should put up a picture of what I have been working on to foreshadow what will be in my first solo show... Very exciting right? I will look like a wrinkled raccoon by the end of it but hopefully I will make it till the end.

I think I am calling this piece Red Tsuna. I tried to reference tsuna (rope) found in sumo wrestling and shinto shrines.

Now I have to figure out how to display it

Paumes

Paumes hosted a "Pray for Japan" exhibition at the Doux Dimanche Galerie in Tokyo. It will be a charity event that starts today April 5th till the 17th for the people suffering from the earthquake/tsunami disaster. All the sales from the event will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

They requested a small piece about notecard or so sized with a heart incorporated somewhere on it. I decided to make a small quilted piece with my homeboy print. You can see a lot more submissions from people all over the world here.

I thought this was a really great way to donate some time and creativity for people that might not necessarily have money to donate.

exciting news!

March was incredibly busy. I have barely caught up and it's almost April.

So, good news #1:
I got accepted as one of the designers for the West 18th st. Fashion Show!

Here is the link to find out more about this really fun event.
I feel very overwhelmed about this but I know it is going to be really good for me if I don't pass out before the big show. We just had our first meeting on Sunday and I realized that I am going to have to step up my game to be able to be on par with some of the designers showing this summer. Knitting away on a knitting machine which I don't have... yet... which brings me to the next good news which I will reveal later this week.
